They are distinctly powerful, fair, wise and tall immortals. The Maiar is like the Valar and they can change their appearance or form and shapeshift as part of their divine origin. 

Men

The men are called Atani and the second children of the IIuvatar and the Middle-earth’s humans. Notable men in the books and movies are Aragon, Eowyn, Theoden, Eiros, etc. the men grew between 10 to a 100 years when they were normal men while the Kings of Numenor grew up to 500 years old. The Elves called them Atani, Engwar, Firimar or Hildor too. The men in Lord of the Rings were mortals and susceptible to disease and illness. 

Elves

The elves were the eldest and first children of IIuvatar and the wisest and fairest race. They are referred to as Quendi. Some of them were brought from Middle-earth by the Valar to Valinor and were subsequently taught by the Ainur. They were other immortal beings. 

Dwarves

Notable dwarves in Lord of the Ring includes Gloin, Thorin, Nain, Thrain, Thror, Durin, Dain, and Balin. They are shorter than men but taller than hobbits and grew to be between 250 to 350 years old. The Aule made the dwarves. 

Hobbits

Everybody knows the hobbits who is also referred to as halflings with the beloved characters being Bilbo Baggins, Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took and many more. They are between two and four feet tall and have a dwarf-like appearance and known to live underground. 

Orcs

Aragorn II  is also known as Elessar who was the Dunedain of the North’s 16th Chieftain. Later he was crowned King Elessar Telcontar, 35th King of Gondor, 26th King of Arnor as well as the first High King of Arnor and Gondor.

He joined the hobbits in their quest to bring the ring to Rivendell. Tolkien described Aragorn as a tall, dark, lean man with a pale stern face and grey eyes and described him to be six feet tall, someone with which moviegoers and gamers can identify with through the Aragorn concept art. 

Frodo Baggins

The leader of the Valar, Manwe Sulimo created the Great Eagles. They were sent to the Middle-earth to keep a watchful eye on Sauron, Morgoth as well as Noldor. They are capable of speech and is graceful, agile and gigantic.

Great Spiders

Urukhai

Uruk-hai is called Uruks and the Middle-earth’s strongest Orc species. They were bred in Isengard with a similar lifespan as Men. They have large hands, thick legs, slanted eyes and bowed backs.

WARGS

Wargs were used by the Mordor in the Third Age and the Orcs or Isengard. These species captured the Wargs who are wolves and we saw them for the first time attacking Thorin in the Hobbit.
