About Artly

I still have vivid memories of my kindergarten days, clutching crayons, and leaving my imagination’s footprints all over the paper.

Those scribbles?

They were the seeds of my art journey. Over time, with every doodle and every sketch, my bond with the canvas grew stronger.

I remember how I was drawing Lego figures at first, then I moved to sketching DragonBall Z characters, and then moved into more realistic figures.

Back then, there were no tutorials teaching you various techniques.

Diving into the Digital World

The digital realm opened up a universe of possibilities for me.

From late-night YouTube binge-watching sessions to engaging with vibrant online art communities, I was like a kid in a candy store.

Every tutorial, every shared piece of art, was a lesson, a new technique to embrace, a new perspective to consider.

I know how much it helped me, so this is why I’m sharing on Artly a lot of the tutorials that I’m seeing now, beautifully packed for Artly’s visitors to check out and learn from.

What’s Artly

Artly isn’t just a website; it’s a piece of my soul. It’s where I pour out my passion, my learnings, and my admiration for the incredible world of art.

While I worked for quite a while as a web and UI designer, moving pixels and following strict guidelines, the satisfaction of scribbling some drawings in my own time, and letting my creativity run wild is something that I just can’t let go of.

Who am I

Hey! I’m Bogdan Sandu, a designer since 2008. In the past years, I’ve created websites, UI kits, and fonts that I either released for free or sold on design marketplaces.

I’ve done client work as well, besides writing for Design Your Way or other online publications like DesignmodoWebDesignerDepotWebDesignLedgerVandelayDesignSpeckyboy, Line25, and several more.

While I am this site’s editor, I’m not the only person behind Artly and Design Your Way. In case you want to get in touch, you can find me on TwitterLinkedin, or via bogdan@designyourway.net.

How did I get to draw?

It’s a hobby of mine. It started in kindergarten and followed me through school.

When the weather was crappy outside and I couldn’t play with friends, I used to stay at my desk and draw Vegeta or Goku fighting each other. Those were the great times.

Now I draw unicorns and rainbows with my daughters. Such a 180-degree change in the theme, I know.
