Create a simple hi-tech header interface - Photoshop Tutorial

We're going to do only the left half of the banner and ultimately duplicate it. In this way we won't have equability problems

1. The final size of the banner will be 1024*300 so we'll open a 512*300 new project and we have to draw with Pen Tool a shape like this:

2. Make a new layer (ctrl+shift+n), right click on the full lined shape and select Fill Path. Select the layer and insert the following settings in Blending Options:

Inner shadow and drop shadow with the same settings:

Gradient overlay:

Make sure that the darker color is at the bottom

3. For the background we're using the following pattern: It's a 5*5 px image. To define this pattern open it in PS and select Edit - Define Pattern. Now open a new layer and be sure it's the bottom layer. Open Paint Bucket tool and select Fill - Pattern - "the newly defined pattern".

4. It looks weird now so we'll draw a half grey gradient with #181818 from bottom till the upper side of the layer (make sure this is on a new layer). It will look like this:

5. In the right make a rectangle with Rectangular Marquee tool and fill it with the following gradient:

Add some Drop Shadow to this layer -> 5 px distance, 5px size, color=black, 90 degrees.

6. In the left area of the canvas make a rounded shape with Eliptical Marquee tool under the main shape and add it the same gradient as the previous shape and Outer Glow in Blending Options with: Normal and #417300

7. Build some circular shapes inside this so called orb and fill them with white and set the layers to 15 percent Opacity. You can use Gaussian Blur for them in order to blend them in better. I forgot. Anyway, it will look like this:

8. In the center of the orb draw a 10 pixels point with a normal brush and use Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur( 3.6 px ). Do the same to add these shiny light to the right green rectangle and it will look like this:

9. You've almost finished. Save this project, then save it as a jpeg 100 quality and paste it into a new 1024*300 project. Duplicate it and use Edit - Transform - Flip Horizontal. Make some adjustments to remove the shadow in the top middle area and add your site name. C'est fini!
