Most of the textures that are found on this site and not only on this site, but on almost all design related sites are used for graphic design, 3D texturing or various digital art works, but very few are actually for web design. So, what makes a texture or a pattern be recommended for web design? Most people say the subtle ones are the ones you need when designing for web, but as in any domain, opinions differ.
To try to satisfy and help everyone, I’ve split a big textures and patterns article into two parts, this one, which features subtle and not so colorful resources and a second one, which will be published next week that’s more for courageous web designers who know they can manage colorful patterns and distribute them wisely on a site’s background.
I’ve made some exceptions in this article, including a few colorful ones but, trust me, they are what could be considered desaturated comparing to those that will be published next week.
