Most Wanted 35 Twitter And RSS Plugins For WordPress

Twitter, RSS and WordPress are like a conjugal triangle. A lot of love between them and it would be a very nasty thing to separate them. That’s why, in this article, you’ll find both RSS and Twitter plugins and not just any plugins, the most wanted RSS and Twitter plugins for WordPress.
RSS Plugins
FeedStats – Download

You can customize in options:
- Amount of days that is supposed to be saved in the statistics.
- Minimum level of WordPress-user, who is allowed to see the statistics.
- Time of a stay/visit (1hour values 3600seconds is common but might be changed)
- Visitors onlinetime (5minutes value 300s is a recommendation)
- IP, that is supposed not to be saved, ex.: your own IP
- Statistics can be shown on the dashboard
RSS Footer – Download

This very simple plugin let’s you add an extra line of content to articles in your feed, defaulting to “Post from: ” and then a link back to your blog, with your blog’s name as it’s anchor text
Include Pages in WordPress RSS Feeds – Download
I recently migrated all of the non-blog content on this site to WordPress. That’s right. I’m now using WordPress as a content management system (CMS). WordPress by no means competes with the big guns in the industry, but for relatively simple sites and even those with multiple authors, WordPress is incredible. However, for me it was missing one feature both in the core feature set and in any of the many plugins available.
I wanted to include pages (not just posts) in the RSS feeds that WordPress generates. I wouldn’t be surprised if this feature became part of the core of WordPress, but until then, feel free to download this plugin.
JR Protection – Download
This protection plugin gives you several ways to stop other users stealing your content!
There are three different ways of stopping users stealing it:
- Disabling right-click
- Disabling text selection
- Disabling your RSS feed (So users cannot scrape your content).
This plugin has support for all of them, simply by editting the options!
Simple Feed Copyright – Download
This is a wordpress plugin that will add a simple copyright notice at end of full text articles in your atom / RSS feed. A notice gets attached at the bottom of feed articles – “Copyright Year. BlogName. All Rights Reserved”. The BlogName is linked to your blog url.
Link Library – Download
This plugin is used to be able to create a page on your web site that will contain a list of all of the link categories that you have defined inside of the Links section of the WordPress administration, along with all links defined in these categories. The user can select a sub-set of categories to be displayed or not displayed. Link Library also offers a mode where only one category is shown at a time, using AJAX or HTML Get queries to load other categories based on user input. It can display a search box and find results based on queries. It can also display a form to accept user submissions and allow the site administrator to moderate them before listing the new entries. Finally, it can generate an RSS feed for your link collection so that people can be aware of additions to your link library.
Link Library – Download
Redirects the main feed and optionally the comments feed to Feedburner.com. It does this seamlessly without the need to modify templates, setup new hidden feeds, modify .htaccess files, or asking users to migrate to a new feed. All existing feeds simply become Feedburner feeds seamlessly and transparently for all users. Just tell the plugin what your Feedburner feed URL is and you’re done.
RSS Digest – Download

RSS Digest fetches items from the RSS or Atom feed that you specify and posts them to your blog in a daily or weekly digest.
A common use is to create a daily digest of items you’ve posted to social networking sites such as Delicious, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Unlike the other couple of WordPress plugins providing similar functionality, RSS Digest features a settings page for easy configuration.
Feature summary:
- Supports RSS and Atom feeds
- Easy to use configuration settings page
- Daily or weekly digest at the time of your choice
- Configurable digest title, category, tags and author
- Digests may be published automatically, or posted as drafts or pending
- Publishes the description field, allowing you to annotate your imported links
- Based on the latest WordPress feed fetching technology for enhanced performance and scalability
Feed Wrangler – Download

Feed Wrangler is a simple plugin that allows one to create custom feeds for their WordPress blog. You can customize the structure of that feed by creating a corresponding file in your blog theme, otherwise the custom feed will default to your RSS2 feed.
Some possible use cases:
- You want a custom URL to access a feed by (i.e. “/feed/misterspecialfeed” )
- You want some feeds to bypass Feedburner redirect.
- A sponsor asks you to place an ad in your feed
- You need a clean, ad-free feed to provide a partner (see Amazon Kindle), that doesn’t go through FeedBurner or is customized in any way.
- You prefer adding and editing feeds in a way more analogous to Movable Type
FeedBurner sidebar widget plugin – Download

WordPress sidebar widget plugin to easy customize and display your FeedBurner subscribers stats button. Note: First you have to register by FeedBurner, to add your feed and to activate the Feed Count service.
RSS Feed Campaign Tagger Plugin – Download

BBU’s RSS Feed Campaign Tagger, as the name implies, allows you to tag links in your WordPress RSS feed. It readies the links in the RSS feed for tracking with Google Analytics.
What Does BBU’S RSS Feed Campaign Tagger Solve?
Email, banner ads, pay per click, you name it. Marketers are tracking clicks like crazy to determine goals and conversions.
But what about RSS feed?
How many RSS subscribers who click on your link(s) and buy your product, send a donation, etc?
How responsive your RSS subscribers are to your offer in comparison to your e-newsletter subscribers?
This is exactly the kind of problem BBU’s RFCT solves. No, currently it is far from perfect but early tests on my blog and a few other friends look promising.
Align RSS Images – Download
Align RSS Images is a simple plugin that scans your RSS feed and ensures that every image has the correct alignment and margin settings. This is useful if you want the images to appear correctly aligned not just on your site, but also in your RSS feed.
Technically speaking, the plugin finds HTML elements styled with any of the WordPress-generated classes and appends an appropriate style attribute to each element. This is done dynamically when the feed is generated, so your actual posts won’t be modified.
Old Post Promoter (OPP) – Download

The Old Post Promoter (OPP) is a WordPress plugin by the Blog Traffic Exchange. The purpose of the plugin is to promote old posts by sending them back onto the front page and into the RSS feed. It does it randomly choosing an eligible post and updating the publication timestamp. The post then appears to be the latest post on your WordPress blog
DO NOT USE IF YOUR PERMALINK STRUCTURE HAS DATES!!!
RSS Image Widget – Download
This Widget uses PHPThumb to automatically generate good-looking thumbnails from RSS feed images inside your template. These thumbnails and the feed are cached inside wp-content/cache so please ensure that the directory is writable. If your images still don’t appear check to see that they’re readable inside the cache.
Image Feeds will work in the plugin providing that they use enclosures. If you want you can change the template provided to suit your feed if necessary, though this should work if enclosures are used correctly.
FeedWordPress is an Atom/RSS aggregator for WordPress. It syndicates content from feeds that you choose into your WordPress weblog; if you syndicate several feeds then you can use WordPress’s posts database and templating engine as the back-end of an aggregation (“planet”) website.
This plugin creates a new RSS widget. You can use this to replace the built in RSS widget or along side it. It is substantially more powerful than the built in widget in that you have complete control over how the feed is displayed via XSL templates. The plugin also includes an admin page for creating, editing and deleting the xsl templates, along with running tests to ensure your environment supports the required features. Additionally some plugin-wide options may be configured.
Import and display Feeds in your blog, use PHP, a Widget or the Shortcode. The plugin use the standards of WordPress, non extra library; use MagpieRSS or SimplePie for parse feeds.
KB Advanced RSS Widget – Download
WordPress comes with a default RSS widget, but you get no control over how the feed shows up in your sidebar. Want more control? The KB Advanced RSS widget gives it to you. With it, you can
- Decide which RSS fields to display (as opposed to the default RSS widget, which limits you to link, title, and description);
- Decide how to format the fields (it doesn’t have to be a list if you don’t want it to be);
Be aware that it’s called “advanced” for a reason. You need to know some HTML to use this fully. Also, please note that this is a widget, so you need to be using a widgets-enabled theme.
Ozh’ Better Feed – Download

Twitter Widget Pro – Download

Twitter Widget Pro is a widget that handles Twitter feeds. It’s true that you could just point an RSS widget at one of the Twitter feeds, but you end up with the whole tweet as a link, @replies don’t function, etc. Twitter Widget Pro properly handles twitter feeds, including linking @username to the user on twitter, linking #hastags to twitter search, parsing urls and making them links, allowing you to display your twitter profile image, and even allowing you to specify a custom error message to display when Twitter is down. You can also optionally choose to ignore @replies, leaving them out of your widget. Twitter limits the number of requests that you can make per hour, but you don’t need to worry about this with Twitter Widget Pro. It includes caching so it only polls twitter once every 5 minutes.
WP to Twitter – Download
The WP-to-Twitter plugin posts a Twitter status update from your WordPress blog using either the Cli.gs or Bit.ly URL shortening services to provide a link back to your post from Twitter.
For both services you can provide your information to maintain a list of your shortened URLs with your URL shortening service for statistics and your own records.
The plugin can send a default message for updating or editing posts or pages, but also allows you to write a custom Tweet for your post which says whatever you want. By default, the shortened URL from Cli.gs is appended to the end of your message, so you should keep that in mind when writing your custom Tweet.
Pretty Link – Download

Shrink, track and share any URL on the Internet from your WordPress website. Unlike other link shrinking services like tinyurl, budurl, and bit.ly, this plugin allows you to create shortlinks coming from your own domain! Pretty Link tracks each hit on your URL and provides a full, detailed report of where the hit came from, the browser, os and host. Pretty Link is a killer plugin for people who want to mask their affiliate links, track clicks from emails, increase the reach of their website by spreading these links via Twitter, forums or comments on other blogs.
Twitter Friendly Links – Download

So, you promote your blog posts via Twitter, huh? Me too. And those long blog post URLs, ugh! Yeah, we got rid of those using URL shortening services like TinyURL and tr.im but what about the name and/or brand? Your blog posts might be fab – very interesting to read and three thousand comments on each. But are you getting people to remember your website address in Twitter? No. Do you get backlinks from Twitter using TinyURL? No. Can you measure site statistics from TinyURL links on Twitter? No.
