I’ve decided that such a section is needed as the graphic resources for designers are scattered throughout the internet. This way it’s easier for you to find what you need in your work and download easy and free. I’ll try to make it a weekly roundup of free textures, icons, Photoshop brushes, Photoshop custom shapes, Illustrator brushes, vectors, PSD files, fonts, social media icons and WordPress themes.

FREE TEXTURES

These textures can be used easily to create interesting site backgrounds, you can use them in your photomanipulations or even illustrations, why not?

Milky – A free stock vector iconset

This is another lovely set of simple but nice icons happily created by IconEden.com. The Milky set contains more than 131 icons primarily colored in green, giving an eye-pleasant look and prominent display on either dark or bright backgrounds. Free Vector Icon Set 2 – Turqua – 3D Isometric Icons

As I promised earlier, I’m releasing the full set for the 3d isometric vector icons which was for a client and was cancelled couple of months ago.

I tried hard to convert them to generic eps format so that you can open and edit with many vector editors, but as some of you know, it is a very time taking process.
So I again filed them for Illustrator 8.0 and above versions.

Completely scalable vectors, so you can edit, change and use for printing or web purpose. But, like before, there are just little restrictions to preserve my own rights.

How to install Photoshop brushes guide: Extract the .abr files in /Users/{username}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop version ‘x’/Presets/Brushes (on mac OS X) or C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\Presets\Brushes (on Windows) and then click load brush in the brush menu.

How to install Photoshop custom shapes guide: Put the *.csh files in
Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop version ‘x’\Presets\Custom Shapes.

To load a file, go to the Styles palette, then click the small arrow in the top right corner and choose one of the layer style collections from the menu.

ILLUSTRATOR BRUSHES

How to install Illustrator brushes guide: After downloading a brush go to Window > Brush Libraries > Other Library and select the newly downloaded brush and click open.

Lineart Brush

This brush will make your strokes look like they were drawn with a pencil. Thin were the stroke begins, wider in the middle, and back to thin were the stroke ends.

Each size comes in two variations – one with the stroke getting wider to the left and one with the stroke getting wider to the right.
If you need other sizes just copy one of the sizes and modify it.

Illustrator Sashiko Patterns

These are some patterns I made for Illustrator in preparation for another project. They were inspired by sashiko designs, which is why they are only outlines on top of solid color. I made 17 different designs with different colors and sizes for each, making a total of 51 patterns.

The patterns are easy to use, but I have Illustrator 9.0 so my instructions may not work for you. What I have to do is open a new document in Illustrator, and go to Window / Swatch Libraries / Other Library… Then, open up the saved file entitled “Sashiko Patterns.” It should bring up a box of the swatches for the patterns.

Grunge Serifia Font OTF

This is a font I modified from the font Serifa Black. We needed a version of Serifa that was all grunged out for a magazine identity.

The glyph set is limited only to the glyphs we use in common US English Editorial, so no ligs, greek or russian (yet, we’ll see.)

Glyphs are kerned exactly as the original from Adobe.
