UK Young Design Entrepreneur award 08

Are you passionate about design, an innovator looking for entrepreneurial ways to move the UK design industry forward? Are you looking to broaden your international business opportunities and to build your network? Want to know more about the business of design in India? If this sounds like you then you could be the inaugural winner of this prestigious new award from the British Council, with support from the Cultural Leadership Programme.

To be eligible for the award, you must be aged between 25 and 35, have at least three years of industry experience and be resident in the UK.

There are two categories to which you can enter your work in the Green Earth competition. The first is Green: Create a graphic artwork that illustrates the environmental protection and how human beings and nature could coexist in a greener world. The second category is Earth: Give the gift of a greener world at Christmas. Create a graphic artwork that will make this festive time of the year a moment to consider what we can do to help our planet’s survival.

ILLUSTRATIVE ZÜRICH 2008

Illustrative art is fresh, humorous, and easily accessible: the scope of work displayed in ILLUSTRATIVE ranges from psychedelic wall paintings, to erotic neon pop art, while presenting monumental town views, as well as quasi photo-realistic drawings. The special sensitivity to artistic quality and a mix of analogue and digital techniques give a special progressiveness to the illustrative arts. This has decisively influenced the development of contemporary art for some time now.

One laureate being determined at this year’s ILLUSTRATIVE in Zurich, will be given the possibility to create a new “Limited Edition-watch”for Swatch. This laureate will have the great opportunity to join the ranks of artists such as Kiki Picasso, Tadanori Yokoo and Keith Haring who have also worked with Swatch. The other laureates can look forward to prizes such as the possibility to exhibit their work, contracts with agencies as well as publications in magazines.
