23 Excellent Game Trailers

The games industry has invested a lot of money in the last decade in new technology and in its image. Therefore the trailers are becoming more and more interesting. Of course, I’m referring to the theatrical trailers, not the ones that illustrate the gameplay. I have collected for you 23 game trailers that will impress you with their storylines, sound editing and, yes, you’ve guessed, their incredible animations.

Halo 3

Halo 3′s story centers on the interstellar war between 26th century humanity, led by the United Nations Space Command, and a collection of alien races known as the Covenant. The player assumes the role of the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier, as he wages war in defense of humanity, assisted by human Marines as well as an allied alien race called Elites, which is led by the Arbiter. The game features vehicles, weapons, and gameplay not present in previous titles of the series, as well as the addition of saved gameplay films, file sharing, and the Forge map editor; a utility which allows the player to perform modifications to multiplayer levels.

Pigeon: impossible – funny and fresh animation

If you haven’t heard of it yet, you have to now. It had its premiere on the 9th of November and soon transformed into a viral hit, as Lucas Martell likes to name it. I’m inviting you to watch the video and you will surely think the same thing as its creator, Lucas.

Story

Pigeon Impossible is the tale of Walter, a rookie secret agent faced with a problem seldom covered in basic training: what to do when a curious pigeon gets trapped inside your multi-million dollar, government-issued nuclear briefcase.

The film took nearly 5 years to complete and is the first attempt at animation by writer/director Lucas Martell: “When the project started, it was mostly an excuse to learn 3D animation, but by the end of the project I had spent so much time reworking and polishing the story that I just wanted people to laugh.”

The end-result is a hilarious 6-minute romp through the streets of Washington D.C. as our hero fights to save himself, and the world from the chaos reigned down by a hungry pigeon. Breathtaking visuals and a sweeping soundtrack showcase the work of nearly one-hundred talented artists and musicians, and the film stands as a testament to what can be accomplished by a team of dedicated volunteers working for the love of their craft.

Award winning animator Tomek Baginski and his work

Award winning animator Tomek Baginski and his work

Tomek Baginski is the living proof that talent is simply the result of hard work and ambition. Everything started with Star Wars, as inspiration, of course. Probably you are curious what you have to study to be an animator like… Tomek, for example. Amazing or not you don’t necessarily have to study motion graphics in college. For example, our animator studied architecture. Of course, he learned by himself the things he knows know. He is most known for Cathedral, which was nominated for Oscar, and Fallen Art which received a BAFTA award for best short animation. Besides these two you will also see Undo and a trailer for the Witcher, for which he created the cinematics.

“Big Buck Bunny (code-named Peach) is a short animated film by the Blender Institute, part of the Blender Foundation. Like the foundation’s previous film Elephants Dream, the film is made using free software. Work began in October, 2007 and the film was released in an April 10th, 2008 premiere in Amsterdam.” (via Wikipedia)
